New Zealand Spelling Bee Teachers' Awards
The Closing date - Friday 28 July 2017, 5pm
The New Zealand Spelling Bee is offering four New Zealand Spelling Bee Teachers' Awards, each worth $2,500, for teachers whose innovative and effective programmes or initiatives instill a love of language in their students.
The Awards also include a travel and accommodation package for successful recipients to travel to the 2017 New Zealand Spelling Bee Final. There they will receive their awards at a banquet dinner and watch the Spelling Bee Final (27-28 October 2017).
Teachers and their schools do not have to be registered with a New Zealand Spelling Bee programme to apply for the Awards.
- Full-time or part-time teachers who teach in a New Zealand school (Years 0-13)
To apply, applicants must:
- Explain their spelling or language programme or initiative, what it involves and how it fosters a love of words in their students (no more than 300 words)
- Detail how being a 2017 New Zealand Teacher Award winner would help the applicant’s professional or personal development (no more than 100 words)
- Give approval for a representative of The New Zealand Spelling Bee to contact the applicant’s principal to discuss their application.
A judging committee including the organiser of the New Zealand Spelling Bee will review all the applications to determine the four award winners.
The Closing date for the NZSB Teacher Awards is Friday 28 July 2017, 5pm. The winning teachers will be notified Friday 11 August, 2017. The Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into.
