New Zealand Spelling Bee Teachers' Awards
The New Zealand Spelling Bee offers four New Zealand Spelling Bee Teachers' Awards, each worth $2,000, for teachers whose innovative and effective programmes or initiatives instill a love of language in their students.
The Awards also include a travel and accommodation package for successful recipients to travel to the 2018 New Zealand Spelling Bee Final. There they will receive their awards at a banquet dinner and watch the Spelling Bee Final (26-27 October 2018).
- Full-time or part-time teachers who teach in a New Zealand school (Years 0-13)
- Teachers and their schools do not have to be registered with a New Zealand Spelling Bee programme to apply for the Award
Receipt of all applications by 5 pm Friday 27 July will be acknowledged by email. Winners will be notified on Friday 31 August 2018 and all others shortly thereafter. The Judges decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Carl will use the Award to better understand phonetics and children with specific learning issues.
|Karen Wilson||Napier Boys' High School||
Karen will use the Award to explore teaching spelling that ‘connects’ better with her students
|Ellen Curnow||Buller High School||Ellen will use the Award towards to her aim to take 20 students to the United Kingdom to explore classic English literature.|
